Molecular Cellular and Biomedical Sciences
The Department of Molecular Cellular and Biomedical Sciences is a dynamic hub of research and discovery, with faculty members leading active, NIH-funded investigations in cutting-edge areas. Their research spans critical topics such as behavioral neuropharmacology, psychopharmacology, neuronal plasticity, motor learning, spinal cord injury and recovery, and neurodegenerative diseases. The department also delves into immunology, wound healing, experimental pathology, and cancer and cardiovascular biology.
Committed to both research and mentorship, faculty guide doctoral students in the CUNY Graduate Center programs in neuroscience, cognitive neuroscience, molecular and developmental biology, chemistry and biochemistry. Graduate and medical students are deeply involved in research, gaining invaluable hands-on experience in the department’s laboratories located on CUNY Medicine’s Harlem campus, where they are mentored in pushing the boundaries of scientific knowledge.
