Tutoring Services
Tutoring is available at no cost to all CUNY Medicine students enrolled in undergraduate biomedical, graduate Physician Assistant, and Doctor of Medicine courses. Complete an online tutoring request form to receive an appointment. Tutoring follows a hybrid model with services in-person and remote.
To sign up, fill out the Request Tutorial Services form and email it to Lrctutor@med.cuny.edu.
Prepare for your session
Tutoring sessions require work on the part of the tutor—and the student. Students must prepare in advance to get the most of the session.
- Know what you want to cover. Bring pertinent texts, notes, assignments and–most or all–your questions. The more specific you are, the more on-target your tutor can be. If applicable, email specific topics to your tutor in advance.
- Attend all class sessions. Your notes from live and asynchronous remote classes provide crucial course content and insights on your instructor’s priorities and expectations. Your tutor needs this information to inform your sessions.
- Do practice questions. Even a few practice questions will help identify some specific areas where you need help and it will prime your mind for learning.
- Be Receptive to Feedback. Your tutor sessions are a judgment-free space to make mistakes, receive feedback, and deepen your understanding of challenging concepts.
- Summarize the session. At the end of the session, be ready to summarize what you covered and set goals for the next session.
- Understand limits. Tutors are not substitute instructors and are not required to provide slides and course information. Instead, they serve as guides and facilitators to support your learning and problem-solving.
- Attend all sessions. Attending tutoring sessions and being attentive is the only way you will benefit from this great resource.
- Connect with LRC. If you would like more guidance on the effective use of tutoring sessions, please reach out to our learning specialists.
