Student Engagement and Resources

Through professional organizations, cultural and social events, mentorship programs, and wellness initiatives, students find countless ways to connect, collaborate, and grow—both personally and professionally.

Where Students Learn, Lead, and Belong
Students in the CUNY School of Medicine are active in a number of organizations reflecting their special interests and concerns. Among these organizations are the American Medical Student Association, the Association for Women in Medicine, the Biomed Asian Health Coalition, Physicians for Human Rights, the Student National Medical Association, and Latino Medical Student Association.
Additionally, students have formed a number of their own organizations, run students participate in inter-class competitions, student-led mentorship programs, and Specialty Interest Groups. The Biomedical student yearbook is produced annually by the graduating class.
Like New York City, the CUNY School of Medicine is a rich composite of people from all walks of life and every part of the world. The range of activities available to students reflects this diversity. The college sponsors a wealth of student-led cultural, social, and artistic events, ranging from music performances led by Sophie’s Beat, to monthly art sessions, dance groups, fitness activities, and more.
Undergraduate students also have access to the wide range of opportunities available to them as CCNY students, which is home to nearly 150 additional student organizations, and an extensive intramural and intercollegiate athletic program, offering many opportunities for students to get involved in campus life.

The CUNY School of Medicine also prioritizes the mental health of its students through the services and resources provided by the Counseling and Wellness Center. Students have access to free and confidential mental health counseling that encourages students’ psychological well-being, wellness programming, and more through the Center.
Additionally, the School provides academic support services through the Learning Resource Center, where students have access to tutoring for all courses, learning specialists who can work with students on an individual and group basis to help navigate coursework.
