Providing advanced training in the biomedical sciences and principles of public health

To be considered for admission to the CUNY School of Medicine Master of Professional Studies in Healthcare Sciences program, a minimum 3.3 GPA in undergraduate science courses and a minimum 3.5 cumulative undergraduate GPA are considered competitive. The MCAT and other standardized tests are not required for admission.

An applicant must:
  • Have a four-year baccalaureate degree from an accredited undergraduate institution by June of the year they plan to matriculate
  • Have successfully completed the following required pre-medical courses with a minimum grade of B or better:
    • One year (or two semesters) of General Biology with laboratory
    • One year (or two semesters) of General Chemistry with laboratory
    • One year (or two semesters) of Organic Chemistry with laboratory
    • One year (or two semesters) of General Physics with laboratory OR one semester of Medical Physics
    • One year (or two semesters) of mathematics, including one semester of Calculus
  • Strongly recommended courses:
    • One semester of Biochemistry
    • One semester of Biostatistics
  • Submit a completed MPS-HS application including:
    Three letters of recommendation:
    • two from undergraduate or graduate instructors, with at least one from the sciences
    • one letter documenting the applicant’s experience in community or healthcare service
  • Official transcripts for all colleges/universities where college/university coursework was taken
