International Students

Pre-PA:
International students whose native language is not English must take the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or IELTS (International English Language Testing System) Examination. A minimum score of 550 (or 75 Internet Based Testing) must be achieved for TOEFL, a minimum score of 6.5 is required for IELTS.
Exceptions include:
- U.S. Citizens or Permanent Residents.
- Students with master’s degrees from U.S. college/universities.
- Students with at least 4 full-time undergraduate semesters at a U.S. school.
Transcripts:
- International transcripts (exception: English-speaking Canadian) are not accepted by CASPA. CASPA requires a translated version of any foreign transcript.
- FMG’s and graduates from foreign institutions must use the WES evaluation service. Please visit WES for further assistance.
International Student Policy for the CUNY School of Medicine PA Program
All international students accepted into the CUNY School of Medicine PA Program must complete the necessary procedures through the City College of New York (CCNY) International Student Office (ISO). Please visit the ISO website for more information:
To receive a CCNY I-20, international applicants must provide the following:
- CUNY School of Medicine PA Program Admissions Acceptance letter
- Completed I-20 Application (available at the link below)
- Proof of financial support https://drive.google.com/file/d/1TK9ITDknZCchWh8W24HF2jb_w93DLW9N/view?pli=1
If traveling with a dependent, additional documents are required:
- Proof of relationship (marriage certificate or birth certificate)
- Dependent I-20
- Valid passport
- Proof of additional funds to support the dependent’s stay in the U.S.
Accepted international students can only proceed with the PA Program once they have successfully completed the ISO application process and received clearance from the International Student Office.
Please note that international students’ acceptance into the PA Program is conditional and contingent upon the successful completion of the ISO application process and obtaining the necessary clearance.
