Night-onCall
Night-onCall (NOC) is a nationally recognized, immersive simulation-based assessment program that replicates the cognitive, communicative, and professional demands of intern overnight call. Over the course of an extended simulated night, learners manage evolving clinical scenarios, prioritize tasks, communicate with interprofessional team members, interpret data under time pressure, and make real-time decisions in the face of ambiguity and fatigue. This rich, authentic environment generates structured performance ratings, narrative feedback, team communication artifacts, and reflective learner outputs that together represent complex, high-dimensional evidence of clinical competence.
Within the Lab, NOC serves as a foundational platform for FeedbackAssist, our AI-enabled assessment and feedback system. By integrating FeedbackAssist into the NOC workflow, we support consistent, theory-aligned scoring; automated, interpretable narrative feedback; and learner- and educator-facing visualizations that translate multidimensional performance data into timely, equitable, and actionable insights. NOC and FeedbackAssist together enable rigorous study of learning trajectories, feedback quality, equity, and validity in authentic clinical contexts, advancing human-centered, transparent approaches to AI-supported assessment in health professions education.
