The Bond Group explores the intersection of socio-structural and cultural factors in HIV transmission, focusing on marginalized and minoritized communities. Dr. Bond and her team address sexual health disparities in Black/African American populations, including cisgender women, gender-diverse individuals, and sexual minority men. By employing formative methodologies and strength-based, culturally appropriate interventions, Dr. Bond’s work tackles systemic barriers to sexual health equity. Central to the research is examining how racism, gender, and societal power imbalances contribute to increased vulnerability to sexually transmitted infections. Using innovative theoretical perspectives like intersectionality and Black feminist theory, the team provides a nuanced understanding of these dynamics. Dr. Bond also integrates eHealth interventions designed with sex-positive, human-centered principles to improve access to impactful sexual health resources.
